Easy snorkeling among the coral formations, located just off shore, and there is a dive shop – Akumal Dive Adventures, on site to cover your need for renting gear. If that sounds like a bit more effort than you planned on exerting, you can also enjoy the day at La Buena Vida in the beach chairs, hammocks in the shade, or one of the crow’s nest look-out towers.
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner in an open-air atmosphere under shaded palapas with a view of the ocean. There is also a unique, but more traditional upper level dining area.
La Buena Vida chefs create fresh meals with local fish, organic produce and Grade A beef. There are vegetarian options as well. The menu includes dishes influenced by traditional Mexican and Mayan recipes, as well as Mediterranean and American cuisine. One can enjoy fresh lime cilantro ceviche and guacamole and chips with a Margarita or a cerveza while watching gentle waves roll in at your feet.
