Akumal is located on the Eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, on Mexico's Caribbean coast. It is almost due South of Chicago and Indianapolis, and in the same time zone as these cities. It is located about 50 miles South of Cancun, which is easily accessible from the US via several major air carriers, including Continental, American, Us Air, and American Trans Air. From Cancun airport, Akumal is a pleasant drive of about an hour south along the coast via rental car or bus. Take Av. Tulum (Highway 307) from the airport south to Akumal.
